The Meadowbrook Quilters will be hosting a quilting marathon on Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., in the Meadowbrook Public Library-Sisson Ryan Community Room. The public is invited to see these skilled individuals quilting. This event is open to anyone of any skill level. Come and quilt/sew, ask questions, and get ideas. Be sure to stop at the market while you're there!
We're usually on the lawn along the Rt. 460 side of the Meadowbrook Center in downtown Shawsville, Virginia, with hours of 9 a.m. - noon.

The Shawsville Farmers' Market is a community service. We charge no booth rental fees or commissions, and parking is free. Staff members are unpaid. You may be a produce and/or craft vendor if you live in Montgomery County or one of the surrounding areas (the counties of Floyd, Pulaski, Giles, Craig, or Roanoke, and the cities of Radford, Salem, and Roanoke). Meadowbrook Library and Virginia Cooperative Extension of Montgomery County will be offering a class on Cooking with Tomatoes, on Monday, July 27, and Monday, August 3, 6:00 p.m. - just in time for the Tomato Festival (August 15). All the ingredients will be provided to make some delicious tomato recipes for you to enter in the various entries. Registration is required (268-1964).
Fort Vause will be performing outside the Meadowbrook Library on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Ice cream will be provided! Bring lawn chairs and ice cream toppings.
Thanks so much to the Virginia Blood Services Donor Honor Roll members, who gave the gift of life July 27th. Virginia Blood Services will be conducting another blood drive on Saturday, September 12, 2015, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., at the Shawsville Farmers' Market (not July 11 - sorry). Please donate. Plus, you can earn points toward cool prizes!
You must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with written parental permission) to donate, and there is no upper age limit.
One donation can save up to three lives.
